Sponsored by the Commonwealth Youth Program, the commonwealth youth awards are an annual event that recognizes the effort of young people between the age of 15 and 29 in supporting the 2030 global agenda and sustainable Development Goals.
This year they are offered in conjunction with the Commonwealth Foundation and the Khalil Foundation and provide extra funding and incentives for the young people to grow their development initiatives and keep on transforming the world.

The Commonwealth Youth Awards for excellence in youth-led development Projects seek to encourage youths in their development undertakings. Wherever you are trying to achieve peace, increase prosperity and fairness or sustainable development, these awards recognize young people who are making a difference and changing the world. In this way, the Commonwealth also wants to recognize these accomplishments in order to raise awareness about the importance of youth engagement and the work youth leaders are doing.
Every year, the CYA brings out the deserving projects and persons who have impacted society, especially their communities. The nominations are received from each of the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth which further means that this is an open opportunity for young leaders from all over the world.
Who Can Apply for the Commonwealth Youth Awards 2025?
Commonwealth Youth Awards 2025 targets group of people in Commonwealth member countries aged 15-29 years. It is mandatory to show how the development work has impacted the community in the positive way and how it supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Young leaders who are influencing inside a project dedicated to the enhancement of health, education, environment, economy and human rights are especially encouraged to apply. Such awards are looking for people who are top performers in their areas of specialization but who are also top performers in the character department as well.

Key Objectives of the Commonwealth Youth Awards 2025

Prizes:
– Regional Finalists: 20 finalists will receive a £1,000 grant, a trophy, and a certificate.
– Regional Winners: 5 winners will receive an additional £2,000 (total of £3,000), a trophy, and a certificate.
– Pan-Commonwealth Winner: The top winner will receive an additional £2,000 (total of £5,000), a trophy, and a certificate.
– Youth PEACE Awards: The Khalil Foundation will present 3 special awards to young people working in peace and development.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible, nominees must:
– Have been involved in development work for at least 12 months, either as a professional or volunteer.
– Be a Commonwealth citizen, with their development work occurring in a Commonwealth country.
– Be between 15 and 29 years old as of December 31, 2024.
– Either self-nominate or be nominated by someone familiar with their work.
