The Lee Kong Chian Research Fellowship 2025 allows scholars worldwide a chance to deeply explore Singapore’s history and the countries found nearby. This fully funded fellowship is organized in Singapore by the National Library Board and gives fellows access to the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library holding books, maps and historical records. Date

This year’s Lee Kong Chian Research Fellowship program is open until May 31, 2025 and the duration is six months. The fellowship will conclude in 2025 and the library expects the fellows to live in the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library while they research.

Funding

Eligibility Criteria

This research fellowship is designed for candidates, both from Singapore and from other countries. Applicants are eligible only if they:

  • Be equipped to complete individual research subjects connected to the library resources.Be in possession of scholarly training or equivalent in an area linked to history or public history’s subfield (history, social sciences, cultural studies and similar).
  • Participate in more specialized research such as earning a doctorate, working after a doctorate or continuing in academia.
  • Submit details about past accomplishments and the chances for their career to grow.
  • Doctoral, postdoctoral and advanced research scholars are welcome to apply for the fellowship.
  • The committee hopes to select people able to give valuable insights into Singapore’s past and its place in Asia.
