Oxbelly Retreat’s Fiction Writers Program welcomes authors from around the globe to participate in a one-week literary program in Greece. The host organization will provide support to ten talented fiction writers who are committed to improving their writing skills, developing their literary voice, and engaging in intercultural dialogues about narrative. Every year, storytellers who wish to exchange ideas and broaden their creative horizons get together at the Oxbelly Retreat.
Overview of Program for Fiction Writers 2025
Emerging and unpublished authors of novels and short stories who are at least eighteen years old are eligible to participate in the Fiction Writers Workshop for foreign students and writers. This international literary initiative aims to support young, gifted fiction authors worldwide in creating exceptional stories in all genres. Although authors are free to choose any subject or topic, their work must have a distinct vision, be written in an engaging style, and employ language that persuades.
Fellows will take part in workshops and literary evening sessions led by renowned staff members and visitors. Fellows will have a brief stay in the program’s next section, where they can take in Messinian’s serene and alluring atmosphere and write freely without any time restrictions. Oxbelly Retreat will cover all program costs for this fully paid workshop in Europe.

Qualifications for the 2025 Fiction Writers Program:
- No online or print publication of the submitted content is permitted.
- The writing should be original to the candidate.
- Candidates must be at least eighteen years old.
- Submissions must be made prior to the deadline.
- Writers with or without publications are welcome to apply.
- Any type of fictional prose, including short stories and novel manuscripts, may be submitted by applicants.
- Applicants are not permitted to submit scripts, plays, poetry, or songs.
