For all young professionals, there is good news! Applications are now being accepted for the Charles R. Wall Young African Policy Fellows Program 2025. For recent graduates and professionals from Africa who are enthusiastic about preserving African biodiversity, it is a special training program. The goal of the international fellowship program is to train and educate young professionals with a keen interest in policymaking, with a particular focus on biodiversity governance in Africa. Charles R. Wall’s Young African Policy Fellows Program is a nine-month fellowship run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF).

Overview of Young African Policy Fellows Program

Additionally, the Charles R. Wall Young African Policy Fellows Program’s primary goal is to assemble a cohort of young professionals with a passion for international biodiversity governance. It is a fully sponsored program that offers all Young African Fellows complete financial support in addition to a number of other privileges. Comparably, fellows in the Charles R. Wall Fellowship Program must be actively involved in influencing policy, negotiating, and participating in evaluation procedures at all levels, including the national, regional, and global ones.

Charles R. Wall Young African Policy Fellows Program 2025 Eligibility Requirements:

Participants in this African training program must be between the ages of 20 and 35.
Individuals from any African nation who currently reside and work on the continent are eligible to apply for the Young African Policy Fellowship 2025.
Candidates must demonstrate a clear interest in environmental concerns, biodiversity, and related fields.
Although candidates from French-speaking nations can enroll in the program, a rudimentary understanding of English is required for both writing and speaking. There may be French translations of some training sessions and resources.
A bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, social sciences, agricultural sciences, international relations, gender studies, indigenous knowledge systems, resource mobilization, biotechnology, or any other pertinent area of global environmental governance is also a prerequisite. If not, relevant experience could be used in place of a degree.
At least two years of experience managing biodiversity or conservation through work, activism, or volunteer work is required of candidates.
Those who are accepted must promise to attend the full course, be available to travel to policy conferences, and assist negotiators as needed.
